I. New Board Member Recognized
New board member Jeremy Buchanan was recognized and introduced to members and staff.
II. Public Comment section: Ten minutes of time is set aside for comments from the public to
speak of their concerns about PATS including rate fare increases. If more than one person is
signed up then the ten minutes will be divided equally among the speakers. No one signed up to
speak, and there were no visitors present at the meeting.
III. Quorum not present: Chairman Harper noted that since there was not a quorum present no
official business could be passed, but the board could hear updates.
IV. Updates: Tracey Fox provided updates for the board.
a. Staffing
The Administrative Staff is fully staffed. All nine full time transit specialist positions are filled, but at
the current time two are out on medical leave. Part time transit specialist Travis Hayes resigned to
take a full time position with Person County 911. Tara Harrison was hired to fill the vacancy. She
has completed training and starting this week on her own.
b. Uptown Shuttle
Ridership has been steady, no noticeable change in ridership.
c. Advertising
No new promising leads. Info was sent to several prospects.
d. Budget
The budget to Person County is now in the approval process by the board of commissioners. There
have been no questions about our request for the year, and none are expected. Grant applications
for FY2026 have started the preliminary stage.
e. Vehicles
We are anticipating at least one replacement vehicle in the next 60 days. The second one should
arrive shortly after the first. The other three vehicles are at lease three months away.
f. Vacant TAB seats
The economic development/chamber of commerce seat is once again open.
V. Old Business
a. Fare increase.
It was noted that the fare increase that was approved at the March meeting is set to start July
1, 2024. Notifications were posted in buses and handed out to riders at the first of May.
Notice went up on the website and advertised in the Courier-Times May 30, 2024
VI. New Business:
No new business was conducted due to absence of a quorum.

position.
