NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
AUTHORIZING SALE OF REAL PROPERTY FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN
ACCORDANCE WITH NORTH CAROLINA GENERAL STATUTE §158-7.1
The public is hereby notified that the Person County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing
on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. in the Commissioners Board Room #215 located in the
Person County Office Building, 304 S. Morgan St., Roxboro, North Carolina. The purpose of the public
hearing is to receive comments related to the County’s plan to consider conveyance of its interest in
certain real property by private negotiation for purposes of industrial or commercial development in
accordance with North Carolina General Statute §158-7.1.
The real property to be conveyed is Governmental/Tract B as set forth in Plat Book 16 Page 381, in the
Office of the Register of Deeds for Person County, North Carolina, containing 25.24 acres, more or less,
having a Tax Map & Parcel No: A58 86, which is owned by Person County. Based on a recent appraisal,
the market value for this property is approximately $500,000.00. The proposed monetary consideration
for this conveyance of real property is $500,000.00, which is deemed to be substantively equivalent to
its market value. The Board of Commissioners believes the foregoing real property conveyance will
stimulate the local economy, increase the County tax base and revenues, result in the creation of
employment opportunities in the County and promote the welfare of the County and its citizens. The
Board of Commissioners intends, subject to public comment at the public hearing for which notice is
hereby given, to approve conveyance of a fee simple interest in the real property described herein. As a
result of the public hearing, substantial changes might be made in the advertised proposal reflecting
objections, debate and discussions at the hearing.
All persons interested in speaking on the proposed conveyance of this real property will be given an
opportunity to speak at the public hearing. Anyone who needs an accommodation to participate at the
meeting should notify the County Manager’s Office at 336-597-1720 at least 24 hours prior to the start
of the hearing.
