Voting Members Present:Bob Brauer,Cheryl Allen

The monthly meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m.by Bob Brauer,President.
A quorum of voting members was NOT present.
BUSINESS DISCUSSION:
●Meeting Attendance:Discussed ways to improve attendance.Nancy suggested sending out a text
message on the day before the meeting as an additional reminder.
●Meeting Minutes Approval:September and October minutes approval deferred to December meeting.
●Household Hazardous Waste Day (9/7):Received group picture from the event and forwarded to
Friends of Person County Environment (FPCE)for possible posting.
●Personality Festival (10/26):Event was successfully completed with good participation from EIAC
members and Recycle Center team members.120 booth visitors signed the litter pledge and were
entered into the Polywood chair drawing.At the November meeting the coupon box was opened and
Nancy McCormick drew the winning ticket which was submitted by Phyllis Brandon.Phyllis was
contacted via phone during the meeting.Bob will follow up with her and arrange to deliver the chair.
●MEC Project Update:Air permit was approved by the Department of Air Quality (DAQ)on October
10,2024 with additional emission reporting requirements.
●Book Distribution:Cheryl is beginning to look for a new book for possible distribution in 2025.The
Roxboro Public Library is getting a new head librarian.The current candidate is a person named Von
Yeager.Cheryl met with the new head librarian to discuss future environmental books.
●Coal Ash Issue:Article on coal ash toxins was published in October.Follow up article on coal ash
mitigation is currently in progress.Bob distributed questions to Duke Energy for their input on the
mitigation actions.
●Solar Farm Projects:No updates.
●2024 CT article plans and status:Discussion on ideas and plans for future articles for the CT newspaper.

o December -Chair giveaway results and picture
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 6:15 p.m.Next meeting is December 5,2024 at
the Senior Center Social Hall at 5:30 p.m.
