Minutes of Person County Animal Advisory Committee
Meeting Date: Feb. 12, 2020
Call to Order: A regular scheduled meeting of the Animal Control Advisory Committee was
held in Roxboro, North Carolina on February 12, 2020. The meeting convened at 6:00pm.

Special meeting held: The minutes from Nov. 13, 2019 were approved.
Animal Services Director Reports: No shelter manager at this point. Large donation came in
to the shelter for livestock fencing to begin in the near future.
Animal Cruelty Reports: No new animal cruelty reports at this time.
Unfinished Business:
1. Outside drop off box – the boxes were removed, County Manger Heidi York and I
decided that the drop off were not going to replace them at this time. She wanted to
make sure the animal owners are held responsible for bringing in the animals. Extra
hour open in the mornings to accommodate no drop off kennels is going great. Only
1 dog left after hours that we are aware of.
2. Make final revisions to Ordinance.
a. Sections 1 J. #2 to add livestock. L add or certified rabies vaccinator
b. Section 7 C. #1 Add G.S. law on enclosure for potentially dangerous animals.
E. #1 Add Animal or livestock
3. Section 9 add words to allow after custodian
4. Section 13 B. at the end add Adoption personnel have discretion to approve adoption
requests.
5. Update Appendix fees after may if approved in budget
6. Update spay neuter voucher to remove veterinarian who no longer participates and
also change appearance to look like actual voucher
7. Update citation if fees are approved. And add words bring all citations to shelter.
Update to existing citation being used.
Motion was made to accept the changes to the ordinance and approved, motion made by Kim
and seconded by Bobby, approved.
New Business:
Rescue and Shelter Stats: Shelter and rescue stats were provided. (Copy attached)
Adjournment: Motion made that the meeting be adjourned and all approved. The meeting was
adjourned at 6:37 p.m.
