Minutes
Call to Order: A regular scheduled meeting of the Animal Advisory Committee was held in Roxboro,
North Carolina on February 11, 2021. The meeting convened at 6:09pm.

Approval of minutes from November 10, 2020: Cynthia made motion to approve minutes, second by
Kelli and approved.
Animal Service Director Reports: No new reports.
Animal Cruelty Reports: No Cruelty reports.
Unfinished Business:
1. Final presentation of Ordinance changes
a. Appendices removed from ordinance. All fees will now be listed in Person County
fee schedules.
b. Ordinance changes to livestock/Domestic fowl have been approved by Asst. County
Manager and Clerk to County Commissioners. Animal Services SOPs are being
updated to reflect changes. Copies of ordinance changes were given to all attending
members for reference.
2. Vet position elimination/change
a. Members unanimously approved to remove Veterinarian position and change to
additional Citizen at Large position.
New Business:
1. Term limits within Animal Advisory Committee.
a. Derrick proposed term of 3 years with ability to re-apply at end of each term and no
requirement for required break between terms. All members agreed to have
proposal recommended to Asst. County Manager.
2. Assistant chair nomination—Decision to move for discussion as unfinished business at next
meeting on May 13, 2021.
3. Appeals Committee (for all potentially Dangerous Dog appeals)
a. Janet Clayton (Health Director) recommended and approved for position and
accepted. Derrick Sims (County Commissioner) volunteered for position and
approved. Final position will be filled by Citizen at Large, which will be determined
at next meeting on May 13, 2021.
Shelter and Rescue Stats: Shelter and Rescue stats were provided. (Copy attached)
Adjournment: Motion made that the meeting be adjourned and all approved. Meeting was adjourned at
6:53pm.
