I. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order by Beverly Cates
II. Approval of Minutes
A motion was made by Charles Harvey to approve the November, 2024 meeting minutes. Melissa
Padgett seconded and the motion passed.

IV. Consultant’s Report
Monitoring visits need to be completed. The subcommittee was established with members Melissa
Padgett and Beverly Cates.

VII. New Business: RFP review and approval
The RFP was reviewed and the need for mental health assessments was discussed. A motion to add
Mental Health Assessments to services and continue with a two year funding cycle was made by Louise
Oliver. Aaron Lappin seconded the motion and it was passed. Eddie Crews noted that applicants need to
fall into a program type. The process is done electronically. Direct questions regarding the RFP should be
directed to Eddie. The RFP will be emailed to the JCPC group and posted on the county website.
VIII. Announcements
Brian Hart announced that Human Services and the Health Department would conduct the first Quarterly
check in on Monday February 24th. Laura Sharpe mentioned the following resources:
• Somethings- NC DHHS has partnered with Somethings to provide any teen across the state
with free mental health support, regardless of insurance status. Somethings is a mental health
platform that connects teens and young adults with Certified Peer Specialist Mentors. Teens are
connected with a Mentor who’s had similar experiences and shares common interests. Services are
available via text and video calls after school from 3:00pm – 11:00pm and on weekends. More

to start the process and/or make a referral.
• Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP) is now available for Person Co.
youth. This will be held virtually, with Alamance Academy as the provider. The program will be lead
by an experienced Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist. SAIOP is an intensive outpatient service
that provides a structured program of skilled treatment for adolescents with substance use
disorders to begin recovery and learn skills to maintain recovery. SAIOP meets a minimum of 3
days per week for 3 hours each day.
o Attached is the referral form and details about Alamance Academy’s approach when working
with youth with SU challenges. Please share.
• Person System of Care Collaborative- We meet once a month and you are more than welcome
to attend virtually, in person, or just get resources and updates through the listserv.
• Child and Family Team Training- March 24th and 25th will be our next in person CFT Training.
This is open to anyone in the community who is interested, including providers, school staff, DJJ
staff, DSS staff, Guardian Ad Litems, etc.
