EDC Welcome:
At 4:03 p.m., Chairman Dr. Scott McKinney called the Person County Economic Development
Commission meeting to order and recognized that a quorum was present.
Creative Economic Development Consulting, LLC, Founder and CEO Crystal Morphis, facilitated
the Person County Housing Summit. Topics discussed included the following:

•Teacher Housing Project Update
•Person County’s Constraints and Opportunities Addressing Housing Needs

Person County Housing Summit Summary
Housing is a key foundation of economic development
impacting a community’s ability to compete for people and
investment. A diverse, attainable housing supply supports
placemaking by creating vibrant neighborhoods where people
can live near jobs, amenities, and civic life. Quality housing is
essential to talent retention and attraction: workers at every
income level are more likely to stay, relocate, and put down
roots in communities where they can find housing that fits their
needs and life stage. When housing options are limited or
unaffordable, employers struggle to recruit, workforce
participation declines, and local growth stalls. In contrast,
communities that align housing with economic development
strategies signal stability and long-term opportunity.
