I. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order by Beverly Cates
II. Approval of Minutes (May 2025)
A motion was made by Aaron Lappin to approve the May 2025 meeting minutes. Melissa Padgett
seconded and the motion passed.
III. Program Updates
Program updates were given by Roots & Wings and Youth Villages:

IV. Consultant's Report
Eddie Crews gave an overview of JCPC and invited providers to share their programs. (Power Point slides
attached).
V. Chief Court Counselor Report
Marie Chapman and Keri Cox expressed that staffing and programs in Person County are going well. There will
be an expected increase in caseload with the start of school this month.

VII. New Business:
New Officers for FY 2026
Beverly Cates asked if there were any nominations for officers. A motion was made to appoint
Beverly Cates as Chair and Richard Johnson as Vice-Chai by Charles Harvey. John Hill seconded
the motion and the motion passed without discussion.
FY26 Meeting Schedule
Ronnie Dunevant announced that his staff would be out of the office during the regularly scheduled
meeting in September. Eddie Crews stated the meeting requirements of six per year. He also
advised of having an extra meeting date scheduled.
A motion to approve the meeting dates going forward for FY 2026 of the second Wednesday of
October, November, January, February, March and May At 1:00 pm was made by Melissa Padgett.
Charles Harvey seconded the motion and it passed.
VIII. Announcements
Dawn Coleman announced the county is offering Advisory Board Training Sessions in September.
Please RSVP to Michele Solomon in the County Manager’s office (handouts distributed).
Laura Sharpe introduced Cheyenne Saunders and noted that she is taking referrals. Ms. Saunders
explained that she assists youth under the age of 21 (non-clinical). Examples of her services
include: Person transitioning out of foster care, At-risk behaviors (including struggling with school).
John Hill announced that Parks & Recreation has started registrations for fall programs.
