HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-01-2026 Proclamation Honoring the Roxboro Community School Girls' Softball Team for Winning the 2026 NCHSAA 2A State ChampionshipPROCLAMATION HONORING THE ROXBORO COMMUNITY SCHOOL GIRLS' SOFTBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2026 NCHSAA 2A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP WHEREAS, the Roxboro Community School Girls Softball Team has achieved an extraordinary accomplishment by winning the 2026 North Carolina High School Athletic Association 2A State Softball Championship; and WHEREAS, since its founding in 2006, Roxboro Community School had never produced a state championship team in any sport until Thursday, May 28, 2026, when the Lady Bulldogs made school history by secur ing the 2026 NCHSAA 2A State Softball Championship; and WHEREAS, through dedication, determination, discipline, teamwork, and perseverance, the Bulldogs demonstrated excellence throughout the season and earned the highest honor in North Carolina high school softball competition; and WHEREAS, this championship reflects the countless hours of practice, preparation, and commitment exhibited by the student-athletes, coaches, and support staff who worked together toward a common goal; and WHEREAS, the team's remarkable season included an overall record of 25-4, a 19-game win streak, a team batting average of .406, 40 home runs, and an impressive 335 runs scored while allowing only 97; and WHEREAS, individual accomplishments further highlighted the team's success, including Karrie Obie being named the 2026 Player of the Conference and Kaylyn Pope being named the 2026 Conference Pitcher of the Year; and WHEREAS, the team's success is a source of great pride for Roxboro Community School, the City of Roxboro, and all citizens of Person County; and WHEREAS, the members of the Roxboro Community School Girls Softball Team have represented their school and community with integrity, sportsmanship, character, and leadership both on and off the field; and
