Regular Meeting Minutes

The monthly meeting was called to order at 5:32 p.m. by Bob Brauer, Chairperson.
A quorum of voting members was present.
BUSSINESS DISCUSSION:
• Meeting Minutes Approval: Minutes of the May 7th and June 4th 2026 meetings were
approved with no further discussion or changes.
• Guests/Special Announcements: Nancy McCormick distributed thank-you gifts to
members in recognition of their volunteer contributions. Nancy also introduced Skyler
Morris as another Person Soil & Water staff that will be assisting when needed. Brian
Hart, Assistant County Manager, introduced himself.
• Officer Elections: Nancy reminded the board that, according to the EIAC by-laws, board
officer elections are scheduled for July of every year. Bob Brauer turned the meeting
over to Nancy McCormick and the following officer elections were voted on
unanimously.
o Chair – Bob Brauer
o Vice Chair – Bailey Hunt
o Secretary – Cheryl Allen
Nancy then turned the meeting over to Chair, Bob Brauer.
• Announcements: Discussion of a recent Board of Commissioners meeting occurred
regarding the committee's recurring public articles submitted to the Roxboro Courier
Times. The BOC has directed county staff to adopt and/or revise current policies in place
to address their concerns. It was suggested to pause the submission of articles until the
BOC and county staff were able to ensure the proper policies were established. After
much discussion, it was agreed to not publish the scheduled July article until more
direction is received from the BOC. The committee was also reminded of their roles as
members of an advisory committee and the role of the staff liaison.
• Fall Litter Sweep: The committee approved the upcoming Fall Litter Sweep to be on
September 19th, 2026.
• Personality Festival Planning: Person Industries has agreed to partner on a booth with
the EIAC at the upcoming Personality Festival that is set to take place on October 3rd,
2026.
• Library/School Outreach: Cheryl Allen will bring the educational books at the next
month’s meeting in August to discuss the distribution of them among committee
members.
• MEC Status: No update.
• Microsoft Mega Site: Discussion about the mega site occurred among the attendees.
Topics discussed included the most recent informational community meeting that
Microsoft held at Piedmont Community College. It was suggested that Microsoft
consider holding another informational community event in the future to share more
information on their proposed plans.
• Hyco Coal/Gas Conversion Status: No update.
• HHW Day Planning: Bailey Hunt informed the committee that there is no set date at the
moment, but after vendors are sourced it will be announced.
• Courier Times Articles: Nancy McCormick confirmed that articles are to be paused until
further notice.
• Member Comments: None
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:55 p.m. The next meeting will
be August 6, 2026, at the Senior Center Social Hall at 5:30 p.m.
