HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-10-2026 Meeting Minutes HSACPerson County Human Services Advisory Committee June 10, 2026 Call to Order: A scheduled meeting for the Human Services Advisory Committee was held at Person County Animal Services, located at 2103 Chub Lake Rd, Roxboro NC on June 10, 2026. The meeting was called to order by Sandy Parker at 4:00 pm. In Attendance: Members: Sandy Parker, Wesley Brown, Treco Lea-Jeffers, Kenneth Perry Non-Members: Brian Hart, Ashley Stone, Tasha Kea-Glenn, Brook Toone, Adonica Hampton Members Absent: Tabatha Philpott, Jayne Bremer, Teresa Burch Approval of Minutes: Prior to approval of the Minutes, Mr. Hart thanked committee members for their commitment to serving on the committee and provided them with a keychain as a token of appreciation. Mr. Hart then introduced the committee to Kelli Lewis, Director of Person County Animal Services. Ms. Lewis gave a brief overview of Animal Services and then exited the meeting. Approval of Minutes from May 13, 2026: Treco made a motion to approve the May minutes. Motion seconded by Kenneth. Unanimously approved. Items for Discussion: I. Old Business a. Veterans Services Office Update Mr. Hart shared that a new Veterans Services Officer has been identified. An offer has been accepted and the tentative start date is June 29. This position was previously located at the Person County Senior Center; however, moving forward the position will be located at the Person County Office Building on the first floor. II. New Business a. DSS Adult Services Program Overview (Huddle up with Human Services Presentation) Tasha Kea-Glenn, Services Program Manager at Person County DSS, introduced herself to the committee and gave an overview of Adult Services. An Adult Services presentation was shared with the committee. Mrs. Kea-Glenn discussed Adult Protective Services, Guardianship, Home- based Services, Adult Care Homes, and Representative Payee Services. Ms. Kea-Glenn shared that there are approximately 66 individuals in Person County receiving guardianship services. Page 2 b. EPASS Overview Brook Toone, Food & Nutrition Services (FNS) Supervisor at Person County DSS, introduced herself to the committee and gave an overview of ePASS; ePASS is a way for individuals to apply for benefits and services in NC. A video on ePASS was shared from YouTube. Mrs. Toone shared that there were 41 applications received last month via ePASS. There are four programs that individuals can apply for via ePASS and those are: Medicaid, FNS, Energy Assistance, and Work First. Applications are received and assigned to a caseworker. The caseworker will then begin required interviews with the applicant and gather information to determine eligibility. Mrs. Toone answered questions from committee members and also shared information about FNS. Afterwards, Mrs. Kea-Glenn, Mrs. Toone, and Ms. Hampton exited the meeting. III. Comments Wesley asked committee members if they had ever heard of ICAC. Wesley explained that he is on the SBI task force for internet crimes against children. Wesley proposed doing a presentation on this at the next HSAC meeting and committee members unanimously agreed. Adjournment: Treco made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Kenneth.
